Insights into black voters' support for the 2024 presidential election can be gleaned from new data from the Howard University Initiative on Public Opinion.
In the seven swing states, a majority of black voters prefer Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump, according to a Howard University poll.
Pollsters found that 82% of respondents supported Harris while only 12% backed Trump.
Approximately 5% of respondents are undecided, while 1% plan to vote for a candidate other than Harris or Trump.
The data shows a significant difference between age groups.

Young black voters continue to support Harris with a majority (75%), but Trump's support has doubled to 16%, and the number of voters backing alternative candidates has increased to 9%.
The age difference was most noticeable among men, with men under 50 years old favoring Harris by 72% to 21%, while men over 50 were split 88% to 10% in favor of Biden.
In Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, black voters aged 18 and above who are registered to vote were surveyed by Howard University poll.
A poll was conducted from Sept. 4 to Sept. 11 with a sample size of 1,000 respondents and a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points.
Individuals were surveyed via landline, cellphone, and text-to-web.
