Trump advises Garvey to seek his endorsement before running for US Senate in California: "No chance" without MAGA.
Democrat Adam Schiff is facing opposition from Republican Steve Garvey in the California US Senate race.
On Friday, former President Trump stated that Steve Garvey, the California Republican U.S. Senate candidate, had not contacted the MAGA movement after being asked about his lack of endorsement for Adam Schiff's opponent.
"I am not well-versed in Steve Garvey's background. I believe he has made a grave error because he hasn't contacted MAGA," Trump stated outside his Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes after a press conference where he criticized "Comrade Kamala Harris and the communist left."
If Garvey doesn't have MAGA, he has no chance, the former Major League Baseball star said.
Trump was fundraising in California on Thursday and Friday.
Trump stated that he had not spoken to Garvey, but he was hearing that Garvey desired the MAGA endorsement. However, Garvey needed to contact him first. Trump believed that if Garvey received the MAGA endorsement, he could win the election. Trump added that an honest election would result in Garvey's victory, but an unfair election would not.
In 2016 and 2020, Trump received Garvey's vote, as Garvey previously disclosed to FOX 11.
Trump criticized Schiff as a "sleazy politician" and a "disgusting human being" who is unfit to be a senator. He emphasized the need for him as president to combat Schiff's behavior.
It was unbelievable that Schiff could represent the area, according to him.
The congressman, who served as the lead impeachment manager in Trump's first Senate trial and was a vocal critic throughout his presidency, has long been disliked by the former president.
Trump's comments about Schiff on X prompted a response from the latter, who wrote, "I don't believe he likes me."
"Trump stated that Steve Garvey is a nice person, but he doesn't know him well. However, he added that if Garvey doesn't align with the MAGA movement, he has no chance of success."
In the deep blue state where there hasn't been a Republican senator since 1992, Schiff is expected to win easily.
The latest Real Clear Politics polling average shows Schiff leading Garvey 57.3% to 33%.
Trump, Garvey, and Schiff have been contacted by Planet Chronicle Digital for comment.
