RFK Jr. seeks to remove his name from North Carolina ballot prior to election.
Last week, the third-party candidate announced that he would suspend his campaign and remove his name from ballots in crucial states to prevent being a spoiler.
After suspending his third-party presidential campaign and endorsing former President Trump, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. filed a lawsuit against the North Carolina State Board of Elections to remove his name from the state's ballot before November.
Kennedy stated that he intended to maintain his name on the ballot in secure Democratic and Republican states while avoiding being a spoiler in contested states when he suspended his campaign.
In North Carolina, a recent poll indicates a tight contest between President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Kennedy filed a lawsuit to be on the North Carolina ballot after attempting to gather signatures for his We the People party during the summer.
The elections board rejected Kennedy's request to remove him from the ballot on Thursday, citing that over 1.9 million ballots have already been printed in 67 out of 100 counties and it would be extremely costly to reprint them before the first deadline for absentee ballots on September 6.
"Printing a ballot is not as simple as pressing 'copy' on a Xerox machine. It is a more intricate process," Karen Brinson Bell, Board Executive Director, stated.
As the November election nears and ballot deadlines are imminent, Kennedy must seek immediate relief from this Court.
The Charlotte Observer reported that the election board's decision violated his speech and state election law.
On Aug. 23, Kennedy joined Trump onstage at their first rally together, stating that he could still become president if neither Trump nor Harris reached 270 electoral votes.
At a rally in Glendale, Arizona, Kennedy stated, "Do you not desire a president who will safeguard America's liberties and shield us from totalitarianism?"
"Wouldn't you prefer a secure environment for your children? Wouldn't you like to ensure that the food you're giving them is free of harmful chemicals that could lead to cancer and other long-term health issues? And wouldn't you want a president who prioritizes the health and well-being of the American people?"
Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment from Kennedy's office was not immediately responded to.
