RFK Jr addresses family drama and wife's unease following Trump endorsement.
Despite disagreements, the Kennedy family can maintain love for one another, as RFK stated.
On Sunday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. addressed criticism he has received from his wife and other Kennedy family members regarding his endorsement of former President Trump.
During an interview on "Planet Chronicle Sunday," host Shannon Bream questioned Kennedy about the family drama surrounding his recent endorsement, referencing a letter from his siblings that criticized his decision.
Kennedy stated that his family is at the heart of the Democratic Party, with family members working in the Biden administration. Biden has a bust of Kennedy's father in the Oval Office, and they have been friends for many years.
"I understand that my family is troubled by my decisions, but I love them and feel that we were raised in a milieu where we were encouraged to debate each other passionately about things while still loving each other. They are free to take their positions on these issues, and many members of my family are working at my campaign and supporting me."
He concluded that it's important for us to be able to disagree and still love each other.
Kennedy acknowledged that his wife, actress Cheryl Hines, was "very uncomfortable" with his decision to withdraw from the project, as she had previously expressed reservations about it on social media.
After Kennedy endorsed Trump, his siblings publicly supported Vice President Kamala Harris in a letter, stating that he had betrayed their family's values.
The former third-party presidential candidate's siblings signed a statement expressing their desire for an America filled with hope and unity, characterized by individual freedom, economic prosperity, and national pride.
"Our brother Bobby's decision to endorse Trump [Friday] is a betrayal of the values that our family holds most dear. It is a sad ending to a sad story."
The statement signed by Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, Courtney Kennedy, Kerry Kennedy, Chris Kennedy, and Rory Kennedy was praised by Joe Kennedy III, a grandson of Robert F. Kennedy, as "well said."
RFK Jr. accused the Democratic National Committee of waging a legal war against both him and Trump, and running a sham primary that prevented a serious challenge to President Biden before he secured the Democratic nomination and dropped out in July to endorse Harris.
