New Jersey Congressman Bill Pascrell Jr. has passed away at the age of 87.

On Wednesday, at the age of 87, Longtime New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. passed away, as announced by his family.
The lawmaker, who had been in the hospital since July, passed away after serving 14 terms in Congress. His family did not disclose the cause of death.
With heavy hearts, Bill Pascrell Jr.'s family announced his passing this morning. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was deeply loved by all. As a United States Representative, Bill tirelessly fought to return to the job he cherished and the people he loved.
Bill, who spent his entire life in Paterson, had an unwavering love for the city he grew up in and served. He is now at peace after a lifetime devoted to our great nation, America.
In 1996, Pascrell was first elected and served on the Ways and Means Committee while also assisting in coaching the Democrats Congressional baseball team.
Earlier this year, he was hospitalized for more than three weeks and experienced a setback last month. During his 2020 re-election campaign, the lawmaker underwent heart surgery.
This summer, Pascrell became the second House Democrat from New Jersey to pass away, following the death of late Rep. Donald Payne Jr., D-NJ, in the spring. He is also the second House Democrat from New Jersey to die this year, following the death of late Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas.
The death of Pascrell has resulted in four vacancies for Democrats in the House of Representatives, leaving them with 211 seats while Republicans hold 220.
