Biden should heed RFK Jr's warning against long-range missiles for Ukraine: 'Reckless escalation'
The possibility of President Biden authorizing the use of American missiles within Russia by Ukraine is being considered.
On Saturday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. criticized President Biden's administration for continuing to supply Ukraine with long-range missiles, stating it was a significant escalation of the conflict.
In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, Kennedy criticized both Biden and Blinken for their handling of the situation in Ukraine, where the U.S. is reportedly considering allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike inside Russia.
Kennedy wrote, 'Secretary Blinken, President Biden — STOP IT! Stop this reckless escalation. I say this not as a political partisan, but simply as a citizen of the world.'
Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that his government will make necessary responses in light of the perceived dangers.
Western countries, including the U.S., have restricted Ukraine's use of NATO-provided weapons to defensive purposes only, prohibiting their use in attacks on Russian territory.
Ukraine has been attempting to reverse the conflict through multiple incursions and pushing for the removal of targeting restrictions by President Zelenskyy for months.
On Thursday, Putin stated that a red line had been crossed, implying that NATO countries, the U.S., and European countries were now at war with Russia.
He added that if the conflict's essence has changed, we will make decisions based on the threats that will arise, according to a translation posted by NBC News.
Putin has warned Western powers to stay out of the conflict with the U.S. and NATO during his invasion of Ukraine, while international support for Ukraine has made the invasion expensive for him.
"Dan Hoffman, the former CIA Moscow station chief, stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that Putin's war in Ukraine has been a massive failure, resulting in hundreds of thousands of casualties, a brain drain, and a million Russians fleeing. However, Putin was successful in using rhetorical nuclear brinkmanship and other threats to try and prevent the Biden administration from providing Ukraine with the necessary support to defend themselves."
Putin's remarks were likely aimed at Biden and his administration, which had previously been slow to provide Ukraine with sorely needed defense equipment such as tanks, F-16s, and long-range ATACMS missiles before eventually agreeing to send the top weaponry.
He makes these threats because they are effective," Hoffman contended. "We should not be controlling how Ukrainians wage their war.
