Disney+ is set to debut the new show 'Agatha All Along,' which has been dubbed the "gayest Marvel project yet."
Kathryn Hahn, star of 'Agatha All Along,' stated to Variety that she is certain about it.
The stars of the new Disney+ Marvel show, "Agatha All Along," have endorsed the show as the "most gay Marvel project yet" before its premiere on Wednesday.
"Agatha All Along," a sequel to the hit "WandaVision" miniseries on Disney+ in 2021, centers on Kathryn Hahn's character, Agatha Harkness, as she embarks on a perilous, enigmatic journey filled with challenges and obstacles.
During the red carpet launch in Los Angeles on Monday, several cast members were queried by Variety senior culture editor Marc Malkin about allegations that the show was the "most gay Marvel project to date."
"That's what I signed up for, and I think it better be," actress Aubrey Plaza responded.
Malkin praised Plaza's chemistry with "Agatha" in the show, played by Hahn. He wondered if the show would become increasingly gay as it progressed.
"Yes darling, but I can't reveal the details," she said, grinning before joking, "But yes, it will be a spectacular event by the end."
Did the other stars of the show agree with Malkin that it was Marvel's "gayest" show yet?
"Yes, I concur with that statement," actress Sasheer Zamata replied.
"The show represents different types of people and showcases the power we can use to achieve greatness, even though witches are inherently queer due to being outcasts and set aside for various reasons," she said.
Kathryn Hahn also agreed with the description, stating, "What is most exciting about it is that it's not exactly what it's about. It's so normalized. But yes, I definitely think it is."
Actor Joe Locke responded to the same question by saying, "Yes, it has many layers, and definitely gay is one of them."
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to Disney for comment.
Disney canceled "The Acolyte," a showrunner-billed as "the gayest Star Wars ever," one month after the cast comments.
The show, although praised by critics, was one of the most divisive in the "Star Wars" franchise among audiences, with a 14% audience score after its June premiere.
Disney canceled "The Acolyte" in August after just one season.
