A new USPS stamp has been unveiled to commemorate Betty White, the beloved 'Golden Girls' star.
A Betty White stamp is expected to be released in 2025.
Soon, a post office near you will receive a stamp commemorating Betty White.
On Friday, the USPS announced the creation of a 2025 Forever stamp honoring "The Golden Girls" star.
"Betty White, a beloved American television icon (1922-2021), entertained audiences for seven decades with her quick-witted humor and warm personality. She gained a new generation of fans as she aged and was also recognized for her kindness towards animals."
A digital illustration by Boston-based artist Dale Stephanos was created based on a 2010 photograph by celebrity photographer Kwaku Alston.
The USPS art director, Greg Breeding, designed the stamp, the federal agency announced.
An exact release date for the stamp has not been announced.
In late December 2021, less than three weeks before her 100th birthday, White passed away.
"Seth Myers posted on Twitter after her death that the only SNL host he ever saw get a standing ovation at the after party was her, and she ordered a vodka and a hotdog and stayed until the end."
Her early 1950s television career began with a wholesome image and later exploded with a flare for bawdy jokes as she aged.
USPS announced that it will reveal more stamps in the near future, including those featuring "pop culture icons," history, and natural beauty.
The 48th stamp in the Black Heritage series will honor Allen Toussaint, a virtuoso pianist, singer, songwriter, composer, arranger, and producer who created hit scores across multiple genres.
"Lisa Bobb-Semple, stamp services director for USPS, stated that the early preview of the 2025 stamp program showcases their dedication to offering a variety of subjects and designs for both collectors and enthusiasts. In 2021, they will continue several successful series and commemorative milestones while introducing new and exciting stamps. Furthermore, several of their demand-based mail-use stamps will be updated this year."
