As she returns to the spotlight, Cameron Diaz discusses her 10-year hiatus from Hollywood.
Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz previously shared the screen in 'Annie' and 'Any Given Sunday'.
Until Jamie Foxx called, Cameron Diaz believed she wouldn't act in another film.
Diaz disclosed how she spent the past decade away from the limelight before making a comeback in Foxx's "Back in Action."
"The 52-year-old actress admitted in a video shared by "Still Watching Netflix" that she was not engaged in any form of training and had not been active publicly. She also revealed that she had declined all invitations except for those related to wine."
During her Hollywood hiatus, Diaz started her own wine company, Avaline.
"I didn't think I was going to make another movie. I was perfectly happy, you know, just living my life doing other things." — Cameron Diaz
"Diaz stated that he was concentrating on that aspect the most, explaining, "If I wasn't solely focusing on being a mom and living my daily life, I was putting most of my energy into it.""
Diaz, who starred in "Charlie's Angels," disclosed the reason behind her return to acting after a decade away from the limelight. In 20 years, she appeared in 38 movies, including "My Best Friend's Wedding," "There's Something About Mary," "My Sister's Keeper," "Shrek," and "The Other Woman," among others.
She confessed that she didn't believe she would create another film. She was content with her life, doing other things, and not focusing on movies. However, she received a phone call from Jamie Foxx, who proposed a big action comedy that they could have a blast working on together.
"I would spend months on end, on set, having a ball, laughing with Jamie."
In an October interview, Diaz stated that nothing could have altered her decision to depart from Hollywood. Since 2014, she has been concentrating on constructing a life with her spouse, Benji Madden, and has ceased acting.
During her appearance at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit, the actress stated that she felt it was the right decision for her to reclaim her own life and that she didn't care about anything else, as reported by E! News.
"My decision to prioritize self-care and build the life I truly desire cannot be swayed by anyone's opinion, success, offer, or anything else. It all boils down to what motivates me, and for me, it's building a family."
Due to Foxx's 2023 health scare, the film "Back in Action," which prompted Diaz's acting return, was delayed and is now scheduled to be released on Netflix on Jan. 17.
On January 15 in Germany, Diaz and Foxx were seen together on the red carpet promoting the film.
She confessed that she couldn't resist working with Foxx again for their third collaboration, following their roles in "Annie" and "Any Given Sunday."
Switching from being a mom to a Hollywood star was not an easy task.
Diaz, at Fortune's Most Powerful Women Summit, described her time away from the industry as being in the house for a long time, which she found amazing.
"My husband, being the best, encouraged me to pursue my goals and let me take the lead in our family. He recognized my efforts in supporting him and our family, and now it's time for me to receive support and achieve my aspirations."
