A heated legal battle between Taylor Swift and Blake Lively has been sparked by Justin Baldoni.
Justin Baldoni was sued by Blake Lively for alleged sexual harassment following the completion of filming for 'It Ends With Us'.
Taylor Swift has been drawn into Justin Baldoni's legal dispute with Blake Lively over "It Ends With Us."
Lively and her husband, Reynolds, were accused of civil extortion, defamation, and more by Baldoni in a $400 million lawsuit that also mentions Swift.
Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment while filming "It Ends With Us," but Baldoni denied the allegations and claimed Lively falsely accused him to repair her reputation after the movie's press tour fallout.
Lively allegedly used her friendship with Swift to threaten Baldoni, who claimed she took control of the movie's production. While working on the film, Lively insisted on rewriting the infamous rooftop scene, and Baldoni was hesitant about the idea but agreed to review what she put together.
Lively invited Baldoni to her New York City home, where the actor said he felt pressured by Swift and Reynolds to use the rewritten scene. "Afterward, Baldoni felt obligated to text Lively to say that he had liked her pages and hadn’t needed Reynolds and her megacelebrity friend to pressure him," the complaint said.
"I really appreciate what you did. It makes things so much more enjoyable and engaging. I would have felt the same way without Ryan and Taylor [emoji]. You are truly a talented individual. I am thrilled and grateful to be working with you," Baldoni's message read, according to the complaint.
Lively shared a detailed reply, mentioning Swift and Reynolds as "guardians" who safeguard her.
"The message could not have been clearer. Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively’s ‘dragons,’ two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him." — Justin Baldoni's lawsuit
"Both Ryan and [redacted] have established themselves as absolute titans as writers and storytellers outside of their primary gig – just singing or just acting or [redacted] just directing. I'm so lucky to have them as creative barometers. But also to have them as people who prop me up and make sure I'm seen for all I can, and do offer. Because they know firsthand all I contribute. They also know I'm not always as good at making sure I'm seen and utilized for fear of threatening egos, or fear of affecting the ease of the process. They don't give a s--- about that. And because of that, everyone listens to them with immense respect and enthusiasm. So I guess I have to stop worrying about people liking me."
According to the lawsuit, Baldoni believed that the message was clear, but he was also dealing with two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things difficult for him.
Planet Chronicle Digital reached out to Swift's representative for comment.
Lively was accused of tormenting Baldoni, his family, and colleagues during the film production process by Baldoni in a lawsuit filed Thursday and obtained by Planet Chronicle Digital. The actor requested a jury trial and a judgment of $400 million.
Lively's legal team denied any deliberate smear campaign and instead accused Baldoni and others of sexual harassment to repair her reputation.
The lawsuit stated that the defendant could not tolerate her tainted image being publicly exposed for even a moment, and she could not accept that it was entirely her fault. She needed someone to blame, so she chose to accuse the plaintiffs in a malicious and unforgiving manner.
"She waited for months to publicly attack Baldoni by falsely accusing him of sexual harassment, after she and Reynolds failed to force Baldoni and Wayfarer to read a statement they prepared, extorting them to take accountability for Lively's actions."
A representative for Lively slammed Baldoni's lawsuit.
"The latest lawsuit from Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and its associates is another example of the abuser's playbook, according to Lively's legal team. This is a familiar pattern: A woman comes forward with evidence of sexual harassment and retaliation, and the abuser tries to shift the blame onto the victim. This is known as DARVO, which stands for Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim Offender."
The abuser's response to sexual harassment allegations is to blame the victim and focus on what she was wearing. This strategy is desperate and does not refute the evidence in Ms. Lively's complaint, and it will ultimately fail.
Baldoni and film producer Jamey Heath made detailed allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation, intentional affliction of emotional distress, negligence and more in a complaint filed with the California Civil Rights department and later in federal court.
The "all-hands" meeting before filming began addressed issues such as no more showing nude videos or images of women to Lively, no more mention of Baldoni's previous "pornography addiction," no more discussions about personal experiences with sex, no more descriptions of their own genitalia, no more adding sex scenes outside what was in the original script, no more discussions about Lively's weight or deceased father, and more.
The New York Times reported that Baldoni's lawyer denied the allegations in a statement.
He claimed that these claims were entirely false, outrageous, and deliberately sensational with the intention of causing harm and rehashing a narrative in the media.
