Hollywood's political landscape may be forever changed by the LA fires, according to Adam Carolla.
The comedian alleges that Los Angeles and California officials disregard uninteresting matters.
Adam Carolla believes the recent wildfires in Los Angeles will have a significant impact on the city's politics.
Carolla stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that it's been widely believed for a while that we should change course when we hit rock bottom, and that's the general understanding.
"Perhaps this city burning to the ground represents a low point for us, so maybe this is our bottom."
Last week, thousands of residents in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena areas of Los Angeles were forced to evacuate due to fires. Currently, Carolla is staying with his friend and longtime collaborator, Dr. Drew Pinsky.
"The standard operating procedure has been postponed for a little bit," he said. "Whatever schedule was in place, going about your day doing your thing, it’s all been thrown off."
Carolla expressed his worry not just for himself, but for the numerous individuals he knows who were forced to evacuate or lost their homes.
"I would say this city burning to the ground is kind of a bottoming out moment." — Adam Carolla
He stated that it wasn't just about his displacement, but also about many others in different areas being displaced and not knowing who was affected.
The management of city and state resources has been a source of contention for Carolla, who believes government leadership has been misguided in the lead-up to the fires.
"He stated that the mundane tasks involved in managing a city, such as cleaning up forests or aqueducts, are not exciting to them. Instead, they prefer to focus on innovative ideas, such as outlawing internal combustion engines by 2030. However, they find cleaning up branches to be uninteresting and therefore do not excel at it. They prioritize doing things that are more exciting and innovative."
"Gavin Newsom believes that fun activities are more important than boring ones, such as aqueducts," he stated. "California and Los Angeles leaders are more focused on equity, the LGBT community, and entertaining activities rather than mundane tasks like water management."
The elderly man believes that more could have been done to prevent fires, such as burying power lines, refilling water sources, and capturing rainwater from runoff, as well as fixing fire trucks.
He stated that he pays approximately 13% state income tax and many people in the area pay additional taxes. Additionally, they pay $5.50 per gallon for gas. He suggested that they should receive something in return for their infrastructure investments.
The long-term effects of the fires are uncertain, but Carolla predicts they will bring about change in the traditionally left-leaning Los Angeles and California.
"I hope the voters who supported these incompetent idiots have come to their senses now that their homes are collapsing and realize their mistake, and they'll choose a different path in the future," he stated.
Instead of having incompetent and pie-in-the-sky idiots run the city, we need pragmatic and competent individuals who can get things done. We need adults to take charge.
"The individuals who claimed that "Now the adults are back" when President Biden took office were actually terrible adolescents who caused destruction, and we need to bring in some real adults."
