The director of 'Twin Peaks' and 'Blue Velvet', David Lynch, has passed away at the age of 78.

David Lynch, the renowned director and writer known for his distinctive dark and surrealistic style, passed away at the age of 78.
David Lynch's family announced his death in a Facebook post, requesting privacy.
"The post stated, "Although there's a large void left in the world since he passed away, as he used to say, 'Focus on the doughnut, not the hole.'""
In 2024, Lynch revealed that he had been diagnosed with emphysema due to his lifelong smoking habit and was unable to leave his home.
The director, who has been smoking for a long time and has developed emphysema, is now homebound due to his condition.
"I can't venture outside, and I can only stroll a brief distance before I run out of breath."
"Although I loved smoking, it ultimately harmed me, and I had to quit. Nothing in this world is as beautiful as smoking, but it's also killing me."
The director, writer, and occasional actor has earned four Oscar nominations and five Emmy nominations, among numerous other awards throughout his career.
