Over 45 workers at a Maryland enterprise were rushed to the hospital due to food poisoning from a coworker's homemade meal.
On Monday at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue arrived at the NAFCO Wholesale Seafood Distributors building in Jessup, Maryland, as reported by FOX 5 DC.
Nearby hospitals received 46 adults who reported feeling sick and exhibited symptoms of food poisoning. None of them were in critical condition.
According to a statement from NAFCO, the mass poisoning was caused by food brought by an employee on Monday. The food was prepared over the weekend.
An employee of the Howard County Health Department prepared food at his home over the weekend and served it to fellow employees, resulting in sickness yesterday, according to NAFCO.
NAFCO hopes for a quick and secure recovery for those affected.
As a food distributor, NAFCO takes food safety seriously and has released all 46 patients from the hospital.
The company stated that it adheres to the highest standards of food safety and undergoes frequent inspections by health authorities.
