Firefighters in Arizona retrieve a boa constrictor from a pickup truck: "Atypical incident"
Based on her appearance, the fire department suspects that the snake may be someone's pet.
On Wednesday, firefighters in Scottsdale, Arizona, were called to a unique situation when a driver noticed a large snake protruding from beneath his pickup truck.
Aaron Ricks, while driving from Mesa to Scottsdale, called the nonemergency police line after he parked and discovered a boa constrictor sticking its head out from under his truck, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
"He was taken aback when he saw a large snake staring back at him from the truck. He initially thought it was a grocery bag or some sort of plastic."
Police transferred Ricks to the Scottsdale Fire Department and firefighters answered the call.
The fire department crew carefully removed the undercarriage skid plate of Rick's truck to access and remove the boa constrictor.
The snake was not injured during the extraction and was handed over to the Arizona Herpetological Society, the authorities stated.
According to Mason Brill of the Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary, the snake may have sustained a minor burn due to its proximity to the truck's motor, but there were no significant injuries.
""Animals often get caught in engines or cooked, resulting in harm. However, this girl seems to have escaped unscathed, with only a minor burn on her arm," Brill said."
If the snake is someone's pet, as suggested by the fire department based on her appearance, Brill advised contacting the sanctuary for pickup.
If the owner does not emerge, the snake will remain at the sanctuary until she can be placed in a home.
