A home in Annapolis was recently purchased by Mary Beth Blasetti and her husband, according to friends.
On Monday, a Maryland mother died after sustaining fatal injuries in a golf cart accident over the weekend, according to authorities.
On Saturday, Mary Beth Blasetti, 32, was a passenger in an E-Z-GO golf cart on the 600 block of Maid Marion Hill in Annapolis when she was thrown from the cart, sustaining life-threatening injuries, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Two days after being airlifted to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Blasetti passed away, according to police.
According to WJZ-TV, police spokesman Justin Mulcahy stated that Blasetti seemed to have been thrown out of the golf cart following a collision with "an unknown obstacle."
"Mulcahy informed the station that the situation was extremely tragic and unfortunate. He expressed sympathy for those affected and stated that they would continue investigating it with the State's Attorney's Office to determine the exact cause."
A 32-year-old woman from Crownsville, Maryland was identified as the driver of the golf cart. No additional details about the driver were immediately available.
The Blasetti family recently bought their first home in Annapolis and welcomed their 2-month-old daughter in September, according to friends who set up an online donation page for the family.
Blasetti was remembered as a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
Mary Beth's sudden passing has left her wide community of friends and family in mourning.
Police said the incident remains under investigation.
