Over a dozen individuals were saved after being thrown into Florida waters by a wave: officials.
Some of the boat's passengers sustained injuries during the incident, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
On Saturday evening, authorities reported that Florida law enforcement officials and first responders quickly sprang into action to rescue over a dozen individuals from a damaged boat caused by a wave.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident occurred, and their aviation section assisted the marine section deputies in locating the damaged boat with 13 passengers.
An initial inquiry revealed that a wave caused the boat to capsize, resulting in three of its passengers falling into the water.
Before deputies arrived, a nearby Samaritan helped pull out three individuals from the water.
Deputies said some of the individuals suffered minor injuries.
EMS was waiting at a nearby marina for the sheriff’s office marine section and Hillsborough County Fire Rescue to transport the passengers from the vessel.
"The successful rescue operation is a proof of the effectiveness of different departments and agencies collaborating effectively, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We are grateful for the opportunity to save these individuals and I commend the exceptional work of our deputies and HCFR," he added."
