A man in Texas is accused of being murdered by his roommates, who allegedly covered his body with rugs.
Capital murder charges were filed against Leo Moore and Haley Barber, both 20 years old.
A man and woman from Texas are charged with murder after residing in the victim's condo.
Johnny Mac Ross Jr. was killed and both Leo Moore and Haley Barber, aged 20, have been accused of capital murder.
Ross was reportedly killed by Moore and Barber, who lived with him, wrapped his body in rugs and sheets, stole his car, and led police on a chase through Garland.
According to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth, the duo was arrested by Garland police in the afternoon on Monday following a chase.
"Lt. Pedro Barineau of the Garland Police stated that it was several days since the stabbing occurred, and it does not seem to have happened that morning. The police are currently collaborating with the medical examiner to ascertain how long the victim had been deceased."
Video footage reveals the couple entering and exiting the condo during the time frame when Ross was thought to have been fatally stabbed.
For several days, a strong odor emanated from the condo where the couple lived with Ross, and it intensified with time.
Dillan Meadows, one of the neighbors, informed FOX 4 that he heard unusually loud noises coming from the apartment. Other neighbors also shared this sentiment.
Meadows stated that they were heard arguing a couple of times last week.
Ross was praised by Meadows, despite their brief acquaintance of just six months.
"Fishing was a regular activity for us back then," Meadows stated. "He would often join us, sitting on the outdoors and casting his line. He'd prepare meals for us and cook on the grill. He was truly an amazing person."
Others told FOX 4 there was high-risk activity associated with the condo.
Barineau stated that our detectives are still trying to uncover more information.
Ross' 2001 Mercedes was allegedly stolen by Moore and Barber, who then led police on a chase. The two suspects are currently being held at the Garland Detention Center without bond.
