The trial of an illegal immigrant for the murder of a slain cheerleader brings Trump win's mother to tears.
Lizbeth Medina's mother claims that the Biden-Harris administration has not met their expectations.
The mother of a 16-year-old Texas girl who was brutally murdered in her own home last December by an illegal immigrant from Mexico says she cried after Trump's victory last week.
""I teared up upon hearing the news that he won, thinking about my daughter and how the Biden-Harris administration had let us down," Jacqueline Medina shared with Planet Chronicle Digital."
Lizbeth Medina, the 16-year-old daughter of Medina, was murdered on Dec. 5, 2023. Rafael Govea Romero, a 24-year-old man, is charged with capital murder in connection with the attack and is scheduled to face trial next month.
"I hope for stricter laws to protect our kids, families, and loved ones from similar incidents happening again now that [Trump] has won," Medina stated.
Medina stated that even though she knows stricter policies won't bring back her daughter, she hopes they will prevent a similar incident from happening to another child.
"We don't want another Lizbeth. We don't want another Laken Riley." — Jacqueline Medina
On Dec. 5, 2023, Medina left her apartment early for work, but her daughter did not attend school or the Christmas parade practice that her cheer team was scheduled for.
Medina, upon arriving at the Christmas parade and not spotting her 16-year-old daughter, became alarmed and immediately reached out to friends and family for assistance in locating the girl.
That evening, Medina returned home to find Lizbeth dead in the bathtub of their Edna apartment with an apparent stab wound.
Five days after Lizbeth's death, Romero was arrested by Edna police in Schulenburg, Texas, according to authorities.
At the time of his arrest for Lizbeth's murder, Romero had a criminal history in Texas and was on probation, as Edna Police Chief Rick Boone previously stated to Planet Chronicle Digital.
The suspect in the murder case was on probation for a burglary that took place in Schulenburg in 2022, which is approximately 60 miles from Edna. According to the Fayette County Record, Romero may also be linked to a burglary that occurred at Lizbeth's home around a month before her death.
Romero was not known to either Medina or Lizbeth, but Medina noticed that their house had been burgled on November 13, which was about a month before the teenager's murder. Edna police officers suspect that Romero may have been involved in the burglary and may have stalked Lizbeth before allegedly attacking and killing her.
"I'm still lost. I still feel like I don't know what to do with my life." — Jacqueline Medina
"Medina stated that her entire life revolved around her daughter. Despite the challenges she faces in finding her own identity and direction in life, she remains motivated by the need to seek justice for her daughter. Additionally, she and her family are occupied with fundraising efforts for their daughter's scholarship fund and donating to child advocacy organizations in her name."
Medina expressed her desire for her daughter to be remembered as a kind and accomplished young woman, rather than for her unfortunate demise.
"However, I want everyone to hear her story so they can comprehend the need for change," Medina stated. "It's the only way people will understand why we desire changes."
The trial of Romero is set to commence on December 3rd in Jackson County, Texas.
This week, a trial for Jose Ibarra, the illegal immigrant suspect accused of murdering Georgia college student Laken Riley in February, commences. Medina stated that she will monitor the trial and keep Riley's family in her thoughts.
