At least 8 people were shot and two died in an Orlando shooting, the police chief announced.
Orlando Police Chief Eric Adams announced that a 17-year-old suspect has been arrested.
During a press briefing, Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith stated that authorities are aware of eight victims, including two deaths, after a suspect opened fire in Orlando, Florida, early Friday morning.
Six victims transported for treatment were stable, he noted.
A 17-year-old suspect has been arrested, but the suspect's name was not spelled out correctly by Smith.
He noted that the suspect was arrested in 2023 for grand theft.
Smith said the victims range in age from 19 to 39.
Smith stated that at approximately 1:07 a.m., officers received reports of shots fired at Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue. Following this, a second report of shots fired was received south of Washington Street on Orange Avenue within minutes.
During the incident, no shots were fired by the police officers.
He displayed footage of people running away from the shootings and also showed video of an officer apprehending the suspect.
He also showed body cam footage of the officer taking down the suspect.
