The No. 16 Cowboys narrowly escaped an upset by the Arkansas Razorbacks, winning 39-31 after a second-half comeback and two overtimes.
In the first quarter, the Razorbacks quickly took a 14-0 lead, while the Cowboys scored their first points of the day with a 73-yard pick-six by Kale Smith.
Oklahoma State's first offensive points were scored with just under nine minutes remaining in the third quarter, as kicker Logan Ward hit a 45-yard field goal to reduce the gap to 21-10.
With about 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys received a much-needed break when Razorback's punt returner Isaiah Sategna fumbled the punt and the Cowboys recovered on the Arkansas 25-yard line.
In the second half, quarterback Alan Bowman scored a seven-yard touchdown with wide receiver Brennan Presley, followed by a two-point conversion with De'Zhaun Stribling, tying the game at 21-21.
The Cowboys used a trick play to jump-start their offense after getting a stop defensively. On a flea-flicker, Bowman found a wide-open Jake Schultz for 63 yards to take into the red zone.
The Cowboys scored a three-yard touchdown, taking a 28-21 lead, after employing Presley in a jet sweep from the backfield.
With just over four minutes remaining, the Razorbacks tied the game 28-28 after a three-play, 75-yard drive, culminating in Luke Hasz's 43-yard touchdown reception from Taylen Green.
Ward scored a 38-year-old field goal, thanks to Bowman leading the Cowboys 55 yards in three minutes to the Arkansas 20-yard line.
Green arrived at work with 55 seconds remaining on the clock.
The Razorbacks quarterback went under for minimal gains and then made a shot that connected with Andrew Armstrong for 33 yards, moving the offense to the Oklahoma State 27-yard line.
As time expired, Arkansas kicker Kyle Ramsey made a 45-yard field goal attempt just inside the right upright, tying the game at 31-31 and sending it into overtime.
In overtime, the Razorbacks lost ground after a 12-yard setback on a third-down sack of Green by Obi Ezeigbo, pushing Arkansas back to the Oklahoma 28-yard line.
Ramsey was skilled enough to kick the ball from 45 yards, sending the game into overtime. However, he struggled from 46 yards out, pulling his kick to the left and allowing Oklahoma State's offense to take advantage.
The Oklahoma State offense was not as effective as the Arkansas offense during overtime.
They won the game with a 41-yard field goal chance, despite gaining only one yard.

Double overtime was necessary as neither team scored a point during the regular time, resulting in a 31-31 tie.
Ollie Gordon II, a Heisman candidate, was mostly silent by the Razorbacks throughout the game. However, in double overtime, he scored a touchdown on a 10-yard rush and followed it up with a two-point conversion, giving the Cowboys a 39-31 lead.
The Razorbacks' offense advanced the ball to the Cowboys' six-yard line but failed on 4th-and-1, ending their hopes of an upset.
The Cowboys, having survived, improved to 2-0 and will face 11th-ranked Utah on Sept. 21.
Arkansas looks to bounce back against Auburn on Sept. 21.
