NIL fund linked to QR codes on Oklahoma State football players' helmets.
In their season opener on Aug 31, the Cowboys will introduce QR codes.
This season, Oklahoma State's football helmets will have a slightly altered appearance.
This season, QR codes will be placed on the helmets of players, linking to the general team fund and increasing the program's NIL money pool.
The QR codes will be 1.5-inch decals with each player's name and number, visible in close-up shots during broadcasts and photos posted online, but not visible from the stands.
""This move is a significant advancement in supporting Oklahoma State football's NIL efforts, as it allows everyday fans worldwide to contribute to the team's success. Head coach Mike Gundy is excited about the opportunity this presents for his players," said Gundy."
Gundy is excited for his players' NIL opportunities but is not happy with agents frequently contacting him about NIL deals.
"Inform your representative to cease contacting us and requesting additional funds. This is a firm stance. Commence negotiations in December."
"The coach informed the players that negotiations were over, as the portal had closed, and all negotiation history had been erased. Now, they were only focused on playing football, with coaching being the only option."
The Cowboys, led by running back Ollie Gordon II, enter the upcoming season ranked 17th in the AP Top 25.
As the nation's best running back, the 20-year-old won the Doak Walker Award last season and was named the Big 12 preseason offseason player of the year.
"Gordon stated on media day that the team's hunger is evident, as they have many returners and cannot afford to be complacent. He emphasized that they have not shown any signs of complacency and have been practicing as if they were newcomers. This has resulted in a positive and productive atmosphere."
Last season, Oklahoma State had a record of 10 wins and 4 losses, placing them second in the Big 12 behind the Texas Longhorns.
In the season opener against defending FCS champion South Dakota State on August 31, the Cowboys will introduce their new helmets.
