Nate Wiggins, the rookie of the Ravens, will not be able to play in the game against the Raiders due to a car accident that occurred just a few days ago.
The first-round draft pick sustained a neck injury in a vehicle crash on Sept. 10.
On Sunday, the Raiders will be welcomed to Baltimore by the Ravens, who aim to recover from their devastating season-opening defeat.
If the Ravens win for the first time in the 2024 campaign, they will have to do so without one of their key defenders.
Nate Wiggins, the first round draft pick of the Ravens, will miss the Sept. 15 game against Las Vegas due to a car accident on Wednesday, confirmed John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Ravens.
On Thursday and Friday, Wiggins was unable to participate in practice due to an officially ruled-out neck injury.
On Sunday's matchup, the team has decided to keep Wiggins on the sidelines, despite Harbaugh noting that he is "healthy" and "fine" after Friday's practice.
"Harbaugh stated that although the player is healthy and fine, he won't be able to participate in the game."
The coach later added, "It doesn't seem real serious."
Over the summer, four Ravens players, including tight end Mark Andrews and defenders Kyle Van Noy and Josh Ross, were involved in car crashes.
Last Thursday, the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs defeated Wiggins 27-20, with Wiggins finishing the game with two tackles.
He was on the football field for 17 defensive snaps.
The Ravens' Week 3 game against the Cowboys in Texas may not include Wiggins due to his uncertain availability.
Harbaugh proposed that the team and the medical professionals are adopting a wait-and-see strategy in the short term.
"The doctors are uncertain, and they're the ones who make the call," Harbaugh stated. "We'll have to wait and see."
