Naomi Osaka, the former world No. 1, has parted ways with her coach Wim Fessette.
After a disappointing second round exit at the U.S. Open, Osaka's parting of ways is imminent.
At Flushing Meadows, Osaka lost 6-3, 7-6 (5) to Karolina Muchova. Following the match, she stated: "Losing is difficult for me because I take it personally. It feels like my heart dies every time I lose."
This is not the first time Osaka and Fissette have parted ways.
Osaka and Fissette reunited for the 2023 season after a brief separation during the summer of 2022.
On Friday, the 26-year-old expressed her gratitude on Instagram for winning two of her four Grand Slam titles while working with the Belgian coach.
"Four years, two Slams, and countless memories. Thank you, Wim, for being an exceptional coach and an even more remarkable person. Best wishes to you."
On Saturday, Fissette shared his thoughts about his time with Osaka in an Instagram post.
""Working with amazing people for 15 years on tour, this was one of my best years. Despite every defeat, we grew a lot and were very close to a breakthrough," Fissette wrote."
After the U.S. Open, Osaka "decided to move forward with a new path," he stated. "I accepted it knowing we close this second run with more good memories and gratitude for building her way back."
