Jorginho James, a former professional soccer player, is being accused of assaulting his estranged wife at a daycare in Texas.
The MLS club briefly had James as a player, while he also played for the Houston Dynamo's affiliate.
Jorginho James, a former professional soccer player who played for MLS’ Houston Dynamo and the USL’s RGV Toros, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife at a daycare.
On Aug. 30, James, a resident of Pearland, Texas, was charged with two offenses: assault causing bodily injury of a family member and violation of bond conditions. According to court records, he allegedly choked a woman in a separate incident that occurred in March, officials said.
A video of the incident was shared on social media and subsequently, the woman spoke to FOX 26 Houston about it.
She told the station that as soon as she parked, he jumped into her back seat. She got out of the car and went inside her daughters' daycare, where she called 911. While she was still on the phone with them, he started hitting her.
"I feel like he wouldn't have stopped if I hadn't fallen. He was ready to punch me again."
James informed FOX 26 Houston that "this is not the appropriate moment for me to discuss anything." Meanwhile, his lawyer refused to provide any comment on the matter to the Chronicle.
James, originally from Jamaica, has spent most of his time playing for the Toros, an affiliate of the Dynamo, and reportedly appeared in one game for the Dynamo.
