A full slate of college football games is scheduled for Saturday.

This past week, "College GameDay" journeyed to Ireland for a riveting Week 0 clash between Georgia Tech and Florida State. In the end, Georgia Tech kicker Aidan Birr made a 44-yard field goal with seconds remaining to secure the Yellow Jackets' stunning triumph.

Today in College Station, Texas, the "College GameDay" crew, including Pat McAfee and Nick Saban, were present ahead of the Texas A&M Aggies' season opener against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Each week, one student is chosen from the crowd to attempt a 33-yard field goal as part of McAfee's kicking contest. If successful, the winner receives $25,000.

Unfortunately, Lucas' first kick fell short.

Lucas was given a second chance and McAfee agreed to double the prize, meaning he would receive $50,000 if he could get the football through the uprights from 33 yards away.

"This one will cost $50,000. . . . That was the best ball you'll ever hit in your life and that thing was nowhere close," McAfee joked. Lucas seized his second chance and hit the kick perfectly.

Immediately after Lucas kicked the ball, the crowd swarmed him and began chanting his name.

After 10 games last season, the Aggies finished with a 7-6 record, resulting in the relief of head coach Jimbo Fisher from his duties.

In November, Texas A&M appointed Mike Elko as its head coach after he left Duke.

In 2023, Notre Dame won 10 games and Marcus Freeman began his third full season as the Fighting Irish's head coach.
