Daniel Harris, a Georgia Bulldogs defensive back, was arrested on a reckless driving charge on Thursday, making him the latest player to face legal issues.

Harris was charged with five misdemeanors after being stopped by Athens-Clarke County police for driving 106 mph. He was released on $50 in bonds.

In addition to the charge of reckless driving, he was also accused of other offenses, such as not having insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, not wearing seat belts, and having tinted windows that did not meet legal standards.

Georgia was set to take on Kentucky in a game less than 48 hours after Harris' arrest.

As a freshman, he played six games, serving as a backup in the Bulldogs' secondary and on special teams. This season, he has four tackles in the first two games.

Several Georgia football players have been charged with driving offenses since their 2022-23 national championship season.

Kirby Smart, the head coach of Georgia, has admitted to facing difficulties in motivating his players to drive safely, as he emphasized the significance of the issue after the fatal accident involving a player and a recruiting staffer following the team's national title celebration in January 2023.

Smart has not disclosed the specific punishment his players receive. Based on past history, it is unlikely that Harris will play against the Wildcats. Running back Trevor Etienne did not participate in the season-opening victory following an offseason arrest.

"Smart condemned off-field incidents during the summer at SEC Media Days, calling them "unfortunate" and "disappointing.""

It seems probable that Julian Humphrey will be selected as the initial cornerback to face Kentucky.
