On Sunday, Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., criticized the Secret Service and other authorities for failing to secure the area around former President Trump, which led to another attempted assassination attempt against him.

Eric Shawn interviewed Burchett on "Planet Chronicle Live" about the assassination attempt outside Trump International Golf Club, where Trump was playing golf at the time. The suspect, later identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, was 300 to 500 yards away from Secret Service when they opened fire on him.

The former president's security was breached by a suspect, and other lawmakers are calling for increased security measures.

"Why wasn't there a drone flying over wherever the president is? This is ridiculous," Burchett said, as they are already calling now.

The Tennessee lawmaker praised the Secret Service agents who spotted and fired on the suspect, despite his harsh criticism of the agency.

In Burchett's view, the Secret Service is compromised and lacks leadership, and the public perceives it as such. Despite having great agents on the ground, including the one who took the shot, it is unclear why anyone would be near the perimeter of the event. Burchett believes that answers are needed and hopes that they will be obtained under the Trump administration.

With a scope, nobody should have been that close to President Trump, regardless of the weapon used, whether it was an AK Steel or an AK-47.

Ric Bradshaw, the Palm Beach County Sheriff, was dismissed by Burchett, who claimed that the security surrounding Trump had decreased since he was no longer the sitting president.

"It's common knowledge that he follows a specific pattern. I know he enjoys playing golf, and they are aware of his golfing habits when he's in Florida. If only they had closed it off, they could have prevented it. They possess the power to do so. They should stop with the DEI hires and start placing qualified individuals in decision-making roles. I believe they need to make that change," Burchett stated.
