Entire sectors are missing agents as migrant numbers skyrocket, ex-border chief warns of 'significant threat'.
Aaron Heitke will give testimony to Congress about the border crisis during the Biden-Harris administration.
A former border official is cautioning Americans about the rise in illegal immigration, particularly of "significant interest aliens," due to the Biden-Harris border policies.
"Fox & Friends First" reported on Wednesday that retired Chief Border Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke stated there is a significant threat out there that we don't know.
"The number of individuals crossing the border steadily increased to the thousands each day."
On Wednesday, Heitke will appear before the House Homeland Security Committee to discuss the Biden-Harris administration's policies that have led to over 8,200,000 migrant encounters at the southwest border from February 2021 to July 2024.
In the San Diego sector, Heitke observed a remarkable rise in migrants.
"During my time in San Diego, the city had an average of 10 to 15 significant interest alien arrests per year, which was higher than the historical average for the sector," he stated.
"The numbers of people affected by the pandemic have skyrocketed from over 100 in 2022 to nearly 200 in 2023, and the trend continues."
In 2022 and 2023, there were "entire sectors" along the border in Arizona, Texas, and California that had "no agent presence at all," according to Heitke.
He cautioned that we have no knowledge of the individuals and entities that entered our country during that time period.
Heitke shed light on the struggle to return migrants to their home countries.
"Heitke stated that many individuals are unaware that we need to reach an agreement with each sending country to return their citizens. These agreements expired, and with the decline in detention, releases have become more frequent. As a result, releasing individuals into the United States does not discourage them from coming but instead motivates them to do so."
During his time in San Diego, Heitke met people affiliated with various criminal and terrorist groups.
With fewer border agents, individuals are able to cross into the U.S. and engage in dangerous activities such as fundraising for terrorism or cartels, narcotics, or human trafficking.
"Anything that they can make money on," according to Heitke.
The House committee is intensifying its efforts to obtain information from the Biden administration regarding Vice President Harris' role in the ongoing border crisis.
James Comer, R-Ky., the House Oversight Committee Chair, wrote to Troy Miller, the acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner, to follow up on a request for documents and communications between Harris' office and CBP from last month.
"The illegal entry and release of illegal aliens into the United States under the Biden-Harris Administration have led to numerous murders, sexual assaults, and serious bodily injuries committed against Americans by illegal aliens. These crimes should never have occurred."
Recently, illegal immigrants have been accused of committing several crimes, including a rape in New York City and a crime by an MS-13 gang member.
Comer reiterated the request on Aug. 20 and Sept. 6, and the committee set an Oct. 1 deadline. If the request is not met, Comer threatens additional action.
