Ohio newspaper publishes letter to editor criticizing Trump for bringing assassination attempts on himself.
One of the crazies who was brought out by him tried to shoot him, according to a reader's account in Cincinnati's The Enquirer.
A prominent Ohio newspaper published a letter to the editor accusing former President Trump of bringing on the assassination attempts against him by his actions.
A letter written by a woman from Sharonville, a suburb of Cincinnati, was published in The Enquirer, which is part of the Gannett-owned USA Today Network of newspapers.
"The Sharonville resident wrote in her letter that there is no place in politics for violence, but the former president, Donald Trump, brings a lot of this stuff on himself. When he continues to push lies about legal immigrants like the ones in Springfield, Ohio; when he continues to insist he was not the loser of the 2020 election; when he continues to spout how he wants to use our military to ‘round up’ and deport immigrants who are not White from this country, he brings the crazies out, and one of those crazies tries to shoot him."
The Secret Service's costs and resources for protecting Trump's properties may have contributed to the near misses on his life.
"To reduce the likelihood of an assassination attempt on him, Trump could stop charging the American people thousands of dollars per night for his Secret Service protectors to stay at his Trump-owned properties, as reported by NPR and other news outlets. This would allow the excess funds to be used to hire more agents to protect him. However, the woman questioned why the American people should continue to pay millions for protection that is only necessary because of Trump's own actions, such as lying and bringing issues on himself."
The piece was edited with a note stating that the opinion expressed in it reflects the writer's viewpoint, and Gannett and the USA TODAY Network do not support or approve of any form of violence.
Gannett did not immediately respond to Planet Chronicle Digital's request for comment.
On Sunday, NBC's Lester Holt linked the foiled plot at Trump's West Palm Beach golf course in Florida to his "increasingly fierce rhetoric," similar to The Enquirer's suggestion that Trump isn't blameless for the assassination attempts.
The assassination attempt today is happening amidst escalating campaign rhetoric. Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, have been making unfounded accusations about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. Over the weekend, new bomb threats were received in that town.
