In a recent interview, Pharrell Williams expressed his frustration with famous endorsements following celebrities' involvement in the election.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williams stated that he avoids politics and can become irritated when celebrities attempt to influence voting decisions.
Last week, Vice President Kamala Harris received an endorsement from pop star Taylor Swift, who is among her many A-list supporters for her 2024 campaign.
The first debate between Harris and former President Trump was immediately followed by Swift's endorsement.
The Hollywood Reporter asked Williams if he would permit presidential candidates to utilize his music in their campaigns, to which he responded.
"I respect some celebrities who have opinions, but not all of them," he said. "I'm one of those people who says, 'What the heck? Shut up. Nobody asked you.'"
"I would rather stay out of the way and vote as I see fit, while caring about my people and the country. There is a lot of work to be done, and I am focused on taking action."
Trump's political campaign faced copyright infringement lawsuits from notable entertainers, prompting Williams to make his remarks.
Recently, Trump's deputy director of communications, Margo Martin, posted a video montage of Trump traveling to a rally with White Stripes song "Seven Nation Army" playing as he boarded the plane.
The campaign was accused of "flagrant misappropriation" of the band's hit song in a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by the band.
The suit was filed last week in the Southern district of New York.
A number of musicians, including Isaac Hayes, Mick Jagger, Lorde, Sia, Blondie, Sheryl Crow, Green Day, Lionel Richie, Elvis Costello, Keith Richards, Steven Tyler, and Rosanne Cash, opposed the Trump campaign for using their music.
