Concerns of a potential terrorist attack increase following the apprehension of individuals linked to ISIS who were attempting to enter the country illegally: "Another 9/11 could be imminent, say experts."
Eight Tajikistan nationals who were previously in US custody have been released.
The arrests of eight suspected terrorists with ties to ISIS have sparked concerns that the migrant crisis at the southern border is jeopardizing America's national security.
Retired U.S. Army Major General Dana Pittard stated on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday that it is a travesty that eight ISIS suspects were able to enter the country through the southern border.
According to a federal source, ICE and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested eight Tajikistan nationals in three major cities.
Recent reports indicate that arrests occurred in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.
No derogatory information was initially flagged with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) during processing, as all eight crossed the U.S. southern border illegally.
NYC Democratic Councilman Robert Holden stated on Planet Chronicle Wednesday that it's terrifying and the city is on track for another 9/11 attack.
"I predicted that we should have a secure border. We should know who's entering our country, but we don't. As a result, millions of migrants and illegal aliens have gotten through, making it a risky situation."
ICE made the arrest of these individuals, who were on the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force radar, according to Pittard.
As a terrorist organization, ISIS-K poses a great threat and requires vigilance, Pittard cautioned.
"It is crucial for everyone in their communities to monitor suspicious activity and communicate with law enforcement, police, and any other relevant authorities."
Derogatory information about suspected terrorists released into the U.S. was flagged with national security concerns, including their ties to ISIS, according to a source on Planet Chronicle.
The FBI and DHS issued a joint statement when contacted about the report by Planet Chronicle.
The New York Post's Jennie Taer first reported on the sting operation.
Taer's report disclosed that a wiretap was part of the investigation and one of the arrested individuals was discussing bombs.
During a Senate Appropriations subcommittee meeting, FBI Director Christopher Wray expressed heightened worries about a potential "coordinated" terrorist attack in the US.
Concerns of a similar attack to the one carried out by ISIS-K in March at a concert hall in Russia were expressed by Wray.
Planet Chronicle' Stepheny Price and Bill Melugin contributed to this report.
