The advantage of the Democrats among young men has been completely erased, according to a journalist who spoke to CNN.
Peter Hamby of Puck News stated that the Gen Z men vote is currently beyond recovery.
According to Peter Hamby of Puck News, the Democrats' edge with young men has vanished as Trump is effectively winning over Gen Z with his "tough guy image."
Dana Bash of CNN hosted a segment discussing the gender gap, with men supporting Trump and women supporting Vice President Harris. She highlighted a Hamby piece titled "The Swift Rogan election" to illustrate this trend.
"Can anyone name a Democrat who can effectively argue for Harris in media spaces where Trump is popular, such as Theo Von, Joe Rogan, or the Nelk Boys, and how this has impacted the Gen Z bro vote?" Hamby wrote in a quote highlighted by Bash. "While Walz could appear on shows like 'New Heights' or 'Pardon My Take' to discuss football, I don't see how this would significantly change the Gen Z bro vote at this point."
Harris' loss of young male voters compared to her predecessors indicates that Democratic candidates may no longer be able to retain young voters across the board, as Hamby argued.
"According to a poll conducted by ABC News/Washington Post, the gender gap among young women is massive, with Harris winning by 38 points. However, Harris is only winning young men by 3 points over Trump, indicating a significant shift from 2020. Unlike previous elections, young men are no longer reliably voting for Democratic candidates."
He explained that the decline in young men's college enrollment and their reduced involvement in the labor force compared to a few years ago is due to a combination of cultural factors, Trump's macho brand, and the economy.
Hamby added, "On top of the anti-wokeism, pronoun stuff, and things that appeal to young men, we have Donald Trump, who plays golf with Bryson DeChambeau, appears on Theo Von, and talks about ZYNs."
He contended that Democrats have not successfully attracted young men in the same manner.
"Democrats haven't had a cool guy candidate in a while, and while Walz may appeal to men, a lot of them are already going to vote Democrat, as they wear 'The Future is Female' shirts," he said.
The "White Dudes for Harris" commercial is being used in a $10-million ad buy on digital platforms, indicating that the Harris campaign hasn't given up entirely on young men.
Maeve Reston, a Washington Post national politics reporter, observed that the ad focuses on economic issues to attract younger men. However, based on her on-the-ground experience, she noted that the rallies were predominantly female.
Reston found it challenging to find men to speak with at Harris rallies because many of the attendees were wearing "The Future Is Female" shirts, brought there by their wives. However, it was not the same as the Obama campaign, where there were curious onlookers who were last in the room, checking her out.
"Hamby stated that "White men are not a homogeneous group," emphasizing that a White man from a suburban area outside of Philadelphia may have different concerns than a White man from a different location. This is why Kamala Harris is facing challenges in Pennsylvania, particularly among White college-educated men in the suburbs, who are voting for Biden in higher numbers than she did in 2020."
He contended that White men in Wisconsin vote similarly to those who wear "The Future is Female" shirts, with White college-educated men in Madison voting for Democrats at "North Korea-level margins."
""In these diverse states, the race is closely contested and the voters vary greatly," he stated."
