One resident is missing after a small plane with two people on board crashes into townhouses in Oregon.
No official confirmation yet on injuries or fatalities from the crash.
On Saturday morning, a small plane with two people on board crashed into a row of townhouses in a residential neighborhood of Fairview, Oregon, near the Portland International Airport and Troutdale Airport, officials confirmed.
A person from a townhouse hit by the plane is missing, Gresham Fire Chief Scott Lewis informed reporters. Neighbors in adjacent townhouses have been evacuated. No update was given on the two individuals on the plane.
According to John Plock, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer, the plane struck a power pole, causing some of the plane pieces to detach. As a result, there are two crash areas, with debris scattered around.
The plane crashed into a townhouse after hitting a pole.
A fire and a large plume of smoke were visible high over the tree line in Fairview, as shown in videos shared on social media.
The twin-engine Cessna 421C went down around 10:30 a.m., the FAA said.
The Gresham Fire Department, with the assistance of other agencies such as The Port of Portland, Portland Fire and Rescue, and Clackamas Fire, responded to a situation.
The smaller Troutdale Airport, which describes itself as a "flight training and recreational airport," was closer to the descending plane.
Officials have not confirmed if there are any injuries or deaths.
Officials stated that thousands of residents were left without power in the area following the pole's collapse.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
