Investigators in Kentucky are probing after a livestreaming couple discovered a body near the location where the I-75 shooting suspect disappeared.
A couple discovered what appeared to be a corpse in the woods while streaming live.
Authorities are verifying the identity of a body discovered near the scene of a shooting that occurred two weeks ago on Interstate-75 near exit 49, where a suspect injured several individuals before escaping into the woods and eluding capture.
A body has been found near exit 49 in Laurel County by Kentucky State Police troopers, and detectives are currently working to verify the identity, according to a statement from Kentucky State Trooper Scotting Pennington.
A couple near exit 49 discovered what appeared to be a dead body in the woods while streaming for their YouTube channel, "Hatfield McCoy Museum Adventures."
The man exclaimed, "He's deteriorated!" upon making the discovery.
Since the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. Sept. 7 near exit 49 in a rugged, hilly area of southeastern Kentucky, law enforcement officials have tirelessly searched the area.
An AR-15 rifle and a small silver-colored SUV registered to the suspect, 32-year-old Joseph A. Couch, were recovered by officers during their search.
One day after Gov. Andy Beshear, state police, and other officials announced they would be redirecting resources towards the community in the ongoing search for Couch, Wednesday's discovery was made.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
