The apple orchard incident resulted in three individuals sustaining critical injuries.
At least 17 people, including children, were injured in a tractor rollover during a field trip at a Wisconsin apple orchard, causing the trip to sour.
At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Deputy Chief Corey Jeffers of the Chippewa Fire District stated that two hay wagons, which were being towed by a tractor, overturned at the Bushel and a Peck Apple Orchard in Lafayette, Wisconsin.
Three patients with life-threatening injuries, five with serious injuries, and nine others were transported by ambulance. One patient was airlifted, while others were taken to the hospital in personal vehicles.
Authorities did not share the specifics of the injuries.
Several children, their parents, and chaperons were on a wagon ride through an orchard when an incident occurred, according to Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes in a statement on social media.
While descending, the wagon lost control and overturned abruptly when they tried to stop it.
"He emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety of victims and facilitating reunification between children and their parents during such incidents. He personally went to the scene and helped calm the children and reunite them with their parents."
