Defense lawyer claims Sean 'Diddy' Combs' alleged sex-trafficking crimes are similar to the Epstein case.
Federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering have been brought against the billionaire founder of Bad Boy Records.
Sean "Diddy" Combs, the billionaire hip-hop mogul, is being compared to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier who used his power and connections to attract young women and girls to a private island, allegedly with the help of a network of wealthy friends.
Along with federal sex trafficking charges, Combs is also facing racketeering and other counts.
Six months after Homeland Security agents raided his mansions in Miami and Los Angeles, and nearly a year after a series of explosive lawsuits began naming him as an alleged sex trafficking and domestic abuser, his arrest at a New York City hotel came. The claims were apparently supported, in part, by the leak of security video showing an assault on his ex, Casandra "Cassie" Ventura, in a hotel hallway.
"David Gelman, a New Jersey-based defense attorney and former prosecutor, stated that the current situation involving the wealthy and powerful individual being charged with inhumane and unprecedented allegations for sex trafficking and deviant acts is reminiscent of Epstein 2.0."
According to Gelman, it is too early to determine who else may be involved in federal court proceedings, although civil lawsuits have accused other executives, stars, and Combs associates, and his indictment claims that he relied on the employees, resources, and influence of his business empire.
As the case progresses, more information will be revealed in court, he stated.
"Gelman stated on Planet Chronicle Digital that there are only a limited number of wealthy and influential individuals in the world, particularly in the U.S. He predicted that it would not be surprising to learn about any potential interactions between Epstein and Diddy, despite Epstein's death several years ago. Gelman emphasized that Epstein's criminal activities extended far back in time."
Both men have been influential in Democrat politics and have been photographed with former presidents, he stated.
He remarked that it wasn't far-fetched to believe the two knew each other.
Despite no one else being charged, the racketeering case implies a conspiracy with others, and court filings allege that Combs used his billion-dollar business empire to mistreat and suppress victims. He is recognized for traveling with an entourage and bodyguards and has been esteemed in the entertainment industry for many years until his recent downfall.
"U.S. Attorney Damian Williams evaded questions regarding additional charges or suspects and stated that the investigation is ongoing," stated Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor who now operates a private practice in Los Angeles. "Members of the RICO conspiracy who did not directly participate in the sex acts can still be held criminally liable for their involvement in the sex trafficking operation. Therefore, individuals who purchased the thousand bottles of baby oil or administered post-drug IVs to victims could be charged as co-conspirators."
If unnamed and unindicted co-conspirators do not cooperate with prosecutors, they may face charges themselves.
"Of course, anyone who engaged in sexual acts with Diddy should be terrified," Rahmani stated. "There are numerous victims, many witnesses, and probable video evidence of the 'freak offs.' Those individuals should be charged with sex trafficking or prostitution if they used threats or coercion against the victims."
In 2001, a nightclub shooting in New York resulted in Combs' former protege, Moses "Shyne" Barrow, being sentenced to 10 years in prison, while Combs was acquitted of any wrongdoing.
A few courageous individuals speaking out about what is happening can ultimately lead to the collapse of the entire structure, as stated by Spencer Kuvin, a trial attorney representing nine of Epstein's victims in legal battles with the disgraced financier, corporations, and other powerful individuals associated with him.
"The Epstein case is similar to the current situation because it involves a wealthy and well-connected individual who believes they are above the law, according to the source. While famous rich people often receive a pass for their wrongdoings, eventually, accountability always catches up to them."
Alleged co-conspirators have likely already been identified and interviewed by federal investigators for potential testimony against the entertainment mogul, he said.
"Kuvin stated that anyone involved in these illegal activities can be prosecuted, and federal authorities may have already granted immunity to certain individuals to testify against Combs. It seems that wealthy, influential individuals still believe they are above the law, but the federal authorities will continue to demonstrate that they are not."
Despite Epstein's death, the mystery surrounding his "client list" persists. This year, thousands of pages of court documents were released, naming numerous A-listers, wealthy businessmen, and others in his circle. However, the documents contained few concrete allegations against them, with many being mentioned only in passing.
