Meredith Gaudreau paid tribute to her husband Johnny Gaudreau on social media after the tragic accident that claimed the lives of her husband and his brother Matthew.
Meredith posted a series of pictures on Instagram that illustrated their relationship evolution over the years.
"Although I lost you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have had you," she wrote.
"I love you so much, you were perfect, and some days it felt too good to be true. I love every single thing about you, and you are my forever. I can't wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever."
Meredith posted a second message about Gaudreau being the "best dad in the world."
The couple shared two children together, two-year-old Noa and six-month old Johnny.
"The best dad in the world. So caring and loving. The best partner to go through parenthood with. John never missed a single appointment. She wrote."
On Thursday night, just a day before Katie Gaudreau's wedding, the Gaudreau family experienced an unbearable loss when 43-year-old Sean Higgins struck the brothers while they were cycling on a rural road in New Jersey.
The Gaudreau brothers were struck from behind by Higgins, who was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol while attempting to pass two other vehicles on the right.
Higgins was arrested and charged after failing a field sobriety test and admitting to consuming five or six beers before the accident. Additionally, he admitted to having consumed alcohol while driving, police stated.
Matthew Gaudreau, 29, and his wife, Madeline, were expecting their first child, baby Tripp, who was due at the end of December.
