The NFLPA has deemed the treatment of Kyle Van Noy by the Chiefs training staff to be unfortunate following an investigation.
After fracturing his orbital bone in Week 1, Van Noy criticized staff as 'super unprofessional'.
The NFL Players Association has responded to Kyle Van Noy's criticism of the Kansas City Chiefs' medical staff, calling their treatment of his fractured orbital bone in Week 1 "unprofessional."
In the NFL's season opener, Van Noy sustained a facial fracture and had to exit GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in the second half.
On his "McCoy and Van Noy podcast," the veteran defender stated that it took almost an entire quarter for the Chiefs' ophthalmologist to reach him.
"The Chiefs' training staff mishandled the situation, leaving me disappointed," he stated. "When you get injured, especially a serious one like mine, you depend on the team's training staff and their doctors for support."
On Thursday, NFLPA executive director Lloyd Howell visited the Ravens to assess the situation involving Van Noy. He deemed it unfortunate.
"Unfortunately, the speed at which Van Noy's treatment came did not occur, as per ESPN. However, Howell expressed gratitude for Kyle's situation, stating that it could have been worse. Despite this, the first game of the season has already begun, and there are many more games to play. As such, Howell emphasized the importance of not repeating that mistake."
Howell stated that the NFLPA has completed an investigation and informed the necessary parties of the improvements needed.
According to Howell, the NFLPA and NFL have agreed to provide prompt treatment for injured away team players under their collective bargaining agreement.
The Chiefs' training staff has not had a good reputation after players in Kansas City expressed dissatisfaction with them in the league's annual player surveys.
The training staff of the Kansas City Chiefs received the lowest grade in the league, earning an "F."
Whether Van Noy, who is listed on the injury report with an eye injury, will be able to play for the Ravens in Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders is uncertain.
