Patrick Mahomes' opinion from Joe Burrow before their upcoming rivalry game.
Mahomes is 1-3 against Burrow.
On Sunday, at Arrowhead Stadium, the rivalry between Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow will be renewed as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
Two young stars in the league, Mahomes and Burrow, have each had their impressive moments.
In the 2021 season, Burrow, one of the greatest college football players of all time, led the Bengals to the Super Bowl by upsetting Mahomes and the Chiefs in the AFC championship with a stunning 27-24 overtime victory.
In the following season, Cincinnati won the regular-season rematch against Burrow by the same score.
But Burrow knows wins against Mahomes can be hard to come by.
In the 2022 AFC championship game, the Chiefs avenged their 2021 loss with a last-second 23-20 victory. During the previous meeting between the two teams in December 2023, Burrow was out with a wrist injury, resulting in a 25-17 Chiefs win.
He knows what he's up against.
Burrow stated that Pat is exceptional at extending the play, moving on the go, and buying extra time for open players. He understands the game well, making it challenging to go up against him.
Meanwhile, Burrow will play his first game against the Chiefs since bleaching his hair.
In two regular-season meetings against the Chiefs, Burrow has thrown for 732 yards, six touchdowns, and no interceptions.
In his career, Mahomes has faced the Bengals six times, including the postseason. He has a 3-3 overall record against Cincinnati. In those games, Mahomes has a 68.9 completion percentage, averages 280.7 yards, and has 13 touchdowns and three interceptions.
In four games against Burrow, Mahomes has a completion rate of 72.3%, averaging 270.7 yards per game, with eight touchdowns and two interceptions.
