During the Ravens-Raiders game, an NFL chain gang member collapsed on the sideline.
The incident took place in the second quarter.
On Sunday afternoon, a terrifying event occurred at M&T Bank Stadium during the 2024 NFL season when the Baltimore Ravens faced the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 2.
With about 2:36 left in the first half, the game was halted due to a member of the chain gang collapsing on the sideline. Medical staff attended to the person and administered CPR on the sidelines. Videos posted to social media showed the incident.
Officials tended to the injured man while players from both teams knelt and prayed.
The Ravens provided an update on the situation.
"The team announced that a member of the chain gang crew collapsed. Immediately, medical personnel attended to him. After leaving the field, he was alert and responsive. He is now being transported to a nearby hospital."
The NFL and its medical partners increased CPR education efforts following the near-death of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin on the field during the 2022 season's final weeks.
Ensuring that individuals have the ability to administer CPR and respond to emergencies is crucial not only during sporting events but in all aspects of life," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated in February 2023. "Our ongoing collaborations with the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross will further enhance people's capabilities to provide care in emergency situations.
"We prioritize the safety of young athletes by providing the necessary tools and trainings, and we take our responsibility to disseminate this knowledge widely for maximum positive impact."
