Daniel Jones reached out to Saquon Barkley after his poor performance in Week 1.
Despite being a rival now, Barkley offered Jones advice for Week 2.
Despite the New York Giants' struggles, Saquon Barkley contacted his ex-quarterback following their Week 1 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
The star running back, Barkley, helped the Philadelphia Eagles defeat the Green Bay Packers last Friday by scoring three touchdowns.
On Sunday, Barkley observed the backlash Jones faced from fans after watching some games during a break.
Did Barkley contact Jones after the poor game and criticism?
Barkley stated via ESPN that he spent six years there and made many friends, hence no ill feelings towards them. He hopes they can recover.
"I conversed with him. I am close friends with DJ. Of course, I didn't have the game he desired. I simply informed him to just go out and play freely."
Over the years, Barkley has consistently supported Jones as the Giants' signal-caller struggled to maintain consistency in leading the team's offense. Despite Jones appreciating Barkley's presence in the backfield, New York has struggled to secure victories.
In the 2022 season, the Giants, with a healthy Barkley and efficient Jones, made it to the playoffs and defeated the Vikings in the wild-card round. However, they were later blown out by the eventual NFC champion Eagles in Philadelphia.
The Giants and their fans are hoping that Jones plays as freely as Barkley suggested during their Week 2 game against the Washington Commanders, who were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 1.
Barkley can only offer words of support as he aims to improve upon his Eagles debut against the Atlanta Falcons on "Monday Night Football."
