College sports are in a sorry state, says ex-NFL coach Jon Gruden.
Dan Dakich interviewed Jon Gruden on OutKick's 'Don't @ Me with Dan Dakich'.
On Thursday, Jon Gruden, a former NFL head coach, criticized the state of college sports.
On OutKick's "Don't @ Me with Dan Dakich," Gruden, a former coach of the Las Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, expressed his disappointment over the absence of relationships between college athletes and coaches.
Those types of relationships cannot be constructed in a brief period.
Gruden stated that repetition is the foundation of learning. Currently, you are witnessing a collection of rental clubs. Have you ever played golf and borrowed a set of clubs? It's like trying to hit a ball with an unfamiliar club or putter. You make numerous excuses.
"College sports are currently focused on the transfer portal and the amount of NIL money athletes can earn. This emphasis is unsettling."
Some coaches in college football are frustrated by the name, image, and likeness era and the transfer portal.
In October, Mike Krzyzewski, the legendary coach of Duke men's basketball, admitted to Planet Chronicle Digital that he did not have a solution for managing the NIL era, despite believing in its potential benefits.
Former Alabama Crimson Tide football coach Nick Saban ripped NIL in February.
