College football games in key swing states see DNC fly anti-Trump banners as Harris' poll numbers decline.
Trump has disavowed Project 2025, which the banners sought to link him to.
On Saturday, the Democratic National Committee flew four planes with anti-Trump banners over college football games in four key swing states for the upcoming election.
The four stadiums where banners will be displayed are Michigan Stadium, Sanford Stadium, Beaver Stadium, and Camp Randall Stadium.
In Pennsylvania, the DNC fulfilled its commitment as depicted in photographs shared on social media.
The Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, which outlines a far-right manifesto, is being linked to Trump and his running mate JD Vance by planes flying over Michigan and Penn State. Despite Trump's repeated disavowals of the project, some of his first administration colleagues contributed to it.
A banner flying over Michigan will read "J.D. Vance [loves] Ohio State [plus] Project 2025," exploiting the historic rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State. Vance, who grew up in Ohio and attended Ohio State for undergrad, claims to be a lifelong Buckeyes fan.
Vance previously disclosed that he had informed Trump that his allegiance to the Buckeyes could affect the former president's prospects in Michigan this November when Trump was choosing Vance as his running mate.
"During an interview on "The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show," Vance stated that when he was first asked to be a VP, he responded with the hope that they wouldn't lose Michigan by 900 votes, as it was likely just a group of disgruntled Wolverine fans who wouldn't vote for a Buckeye. However, he believed that most Michiganders would put aside their sports rivalries and prioritize the country's needs, which he believed was the most important thing."
The Democrats have introduced a new campaign strategy three days before the first presidential debate between Trump and Harris on ABC News, as Harris's poll numbers have declined significantly in recent weeks, particularly in crucial swing states.
On Friday, Nate Silver of 538 reported that Trump was closing the gap with Harris in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia, according to his latest projection.
Silver's latest election forecast, published on his Substack, indicates that Trump's chances of winning the Electoral College have increased from 52.4% to 58.2% since last Thursday, while Harris' odds have decreased from 47.3% to 41.6%.
According to Polymarket, the probability of Trump winning in November is 50%, while Harris's chance is 48%.
In Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina, a recent series of Planet Chronicle statewide surveys revealed that Harris leads Trump by 1 percentage point in Arizona and 2 points in Georgia and Nevada, while Trump is ahead of Harris by 1 point in North Carolina. Despite these small differences, all results fall within the margin of sampling error.
On Saturday, Trump will make an in-person appearance at a rally in Mosinee, Wisconsin, while the Wisconsin Badgers play South Dakota.
During his visit to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Harris received the endorsement of former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Rep. Liz Cheney while shopping at Penzeys Spices.
If Trump's positive polling trends continue and the DNC's aerial campaign strategy fails, Vance suggests that he and Trump visit Ohio Stadium at Ohio State for the Buckeyes' game against Michigan on November 30.
"Let's go to the Ohio State-Michigan game, assuming we win, because I believe I can get some great tickets as the VP-elect, and we'll be in a celebratory mood. This game is going to be huge this year, and it could determine the ultimate seeding in the College Football Playoff. While some people aren't putting Michigan as high this year, we never know because it's always a strong program. So, let's wait and see, guys. I'm feeling very confident about the Buckeyes and the Bengals."
