Brittany Mahomes and daughter Sterling Skye criticize the 'repulsive' black vultures invading their backyard.
The population of the species has increased in the area this year, resulting in issues for the local community.
There is a wildlife invasion at the Mahomes' home.
On Thursday morning, Brittany Mahomes shared a video of her and her NFL player husband Patrick Mahomes' backyard on Instagram, featuring a group of vultures perched on a fence and others flying around the open area.
"Brittany remarked while reviewing the footage, "Every morning, they gather here. It must be their meetup spot since there's nothing else nearby, and they're simply hanging out.""
The mother, who was 33 years old and pregnant, brought her oldest daughter, Sterling Skye, who was three years old, into the scene and asked the toddler, "What are they?"
"Disgusting!" Sterling Skye yelled in response.
Before replying, the mother chuckled and said, "Indeed," to her daughter's statement.
The video captured the eagles perched on the 50-yard football and soccer field of the Mahomes family, located near a dense forest. A mother and daughter observed the scene from a balcony, while in the background, a child was heard screaming in fear as its mother tried to console it.
The black vulture, commonly referred to as the American black vulture, Mexican vulture, zopilote, urubu, or gallinazo, has a migration route that spans from the southeastern United States to Peru, Central Chile, and Uruguay in South America.
The Turkey Vulture, a relative of the black vulture, is more commonly known in Cass County, Missouri, where the Mahomes' home is located. However, this year, the county has experienced an increase in black vulture migration.
This summer, black vultures migrated further north into the Cass County area, causing problems for local farmers, according to The Tribune Times. These "very aggressive" birds are known to prey on newborn calves and lambs, the newspaper reported last month.
The Mahomes family, the county's most important, are now being invaded and their property is being desecrated.
In August 2020, Patrick Mahomes signed a 10-year, $450 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and used $400,000 to purchase an eight-acre lot. The couple got married in March 2022, a year after their daughter, Sterling Skye, was born. Their one-year-old son, Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III, was born in December that year. The home was completed in February 2023 and included a dual-purpose football and soccer field with their last name spelled out in black letters in the end zone. Currently, the field serves as a daily "hangout spot" for vultures.
The black birds' wildlife invasion occurred after the Chiefs defeated the Ravens in the AFC Championship game, and Mahomes denied the Ravens a chance for revenge for their loss in the previous year.
Now, Mahomes will have to deal with these birds as he prepares for the Chiefs' big game against Joe Burrow and the rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Kansas City is looking to stay undefeated after a win in Week 1, with aspirations of becoming the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls.
In an interview with Logan Paul on the "Impaulsive" podcast, Mahomes stated that he believes the Chiefs will achieve their goal of winning the Super Bowl once again this year.
"Mahomes declared that they will repeat their actions in New Orleans next year."
The Chiefs' offense, led by Mahomes, may have to attempt a historic season while incorporating plays created by Taylor Swift. In a previous interview with Chris Simms on NBC, Mahomes revealed that Swift, who is dating his teammate Travis Kelce, had suggested they "put one in."
