According to a report, Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins quarterback, has stated that he has no intention of retiring.
On Thursday, a collision between Tagovailoa and Damar Hamlin resulted in a concussion diagnosis for Tagovailoa.
Despite calls from experts and fans for Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to retire after his latest concussion, it seems that his heart is not in it.
On Sunday morning, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion during "Thursday Night Football," has no plans to retire despite another head injury.
In 2022, Tagovailoa suffered three concussions in one season, sparking a similar conversation.
"Tua Tagovailoa and his doctors will be making the decisions about his playing and health. They will be driving the process. According to Rapoport, Tua Tagovailoa has no plans to retire and is already looking forward to returning to the football field."
The return of Tagovailoa is uncertain, but Rapoport believes the same situation may occur as in 2022.
Each concussion is unique, and every player's response to a concussion is different. He will be ready to play when he and his doctors determine that he is healthy enough to do so.
"He has started seeing concussion specialists again, as he did in 2022."
Miami may need to consider acquiring a new quarterback if Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel does not set a timeline for Tagovailoa's return, as Skylar Thompson and Tim Boyle are already in the room.
Despite the widespread belief that Tagovailoa should retire, McDaniel encouraged him to continue playing.
McDaniel stated, "I understand that it would be wrong for me to sniff that subject, and it's more important to care about the human being. You're talking about his career, right?"
"I understand why people want to go there, but I wish people would listen to me for a moment. Bringing up his future is not in his best interest, so I urge everyone who genuinely cares to consider this. Let's make sure that this is not the last thing on your mind. If I were to answer that question, I would say, "This is my opinion on his career." If he agreed or disagreed, either way, I would have made him worse."
In 2022, Tagovailoa suffered a back injury against the Bills at home, but it was ruled that he was dealing with a concussion, leading to him stumbling after noticeably smacking his head on the ground during a play.
On Thursday Night Football, Tagovailoa was brutally sacked and his head hit the ground, causing his hands to curl in a disturbing scene.
Despite being stretchered off the field and some calling for his retirement, Tagovailoa returned to quarterback the Dolphins just two weeks later. However, his season was cut short once again in Week 16 when he suffered another concussion, this time against the Green Bay Packers.
After that, Tagovailoa's season ended and his offseason was consumed by retirement talks before he addressed the situation.
The Dolphins were confident heading into the 2023 season after observing Tagovailoa's impressive performance throughout the campaign, and they subsequently signed him to a four-year extension.
What matters most to Tagovailoa now is his health as he recovers from his latest concussion. However, it seems that he wants to get back on the field rather than retire his helmet permanently.
