Tim Walz retracts his statement about using weapons 'in war', says he 'misspoke': report
Since being named as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate, Walz's military record has faced intense scrutiny.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, has clarified that he misspoke in a 2018 video about his handling of weapons "in war."
The Harris campaign spokesperson stated that Governor Walz would never disrespect or belittle any American's service to the country, and in fact, he commended Senator Vance for risking his life for the country. This is the American way.
The Governor misspoke when making the argument for why weapons of war should never be on our streets or in our classrooms. He believes that only military personnel trained to handle these deadly weapons should have access to them, unlike Donald Trump and JD Vance who prioritize the gun lobby over the safety of our children.
In the 2018 video, Walz talks about gun control and draws on his military experience.
Walz stated in the clip, posted by Harris' campaign on Tuesday, that the weapons of war he carried in war should only be found in that place.
