Kelly Loeffler, a former Georgia senator, will be part of Trump's inaugural committee.
Steve Witkoff, a New York real estate investor, will co-chair the committee with her.
On Saturday, former U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia was announced as the leader of President-elect Donald J. Trump's inaugural committee.
The Trump campaign announced that the committee responsible for planning inaugural events will be led by Kelly Loeffler and Steve Witkoff, a New York real estate investor.
"On Election Night, we made history, and I am honored to have been elected the 47th President of the United States thanks to the support of millions of hardworking Americans across the nation who shared our America First agenda," Trump stated. "The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee will celebrate this remarkable victory in a celebration of the American People and our nation."
"The president-elect stated that his administration will fulfill its promises to Make America Great Again, starting with a celebration of the momentous occasion steeped in history and tradition. Afterward, they will work together to achieve an incredible future for the people, restoring strength, success, and common sense to the Oval Office."
After winning the Peach State by a surprising margin, Trump appointed Loeffler. As of Saturday afternoon, Trump had roughly 120,000 more votes than Harris in the hotly-contested battleground state.
Loeffler, who served as a senator in 2020 and lost a special election to Democrat Raphael Warnock in 2021, has been a vocal ally of the former president. In 2020, Loeffler was accused of insider trading, but the DOJ later dropped its investigation.
Since leaving office, Loeffler has been involved in conservative politics and recently called out Mark Cuban on X for claiming that Trump didn't surround himself with "strong women."
"Like you, I have experience as a CEO and sports team owner," Loeffler stated in an October 31 post. "As a conservative woman who supports Trump, I am one of the millions who back him. You may believe we are foolish or inferior, but we believe it is time for you and Kamala to be replaced by leaders who do not despise us."
In September, Fani Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, was targeted by a six-figure ad campaign launched by Loeffler's conservative advocacy group, which aimed to expose her perceived failures.
The Greater Georgia 501(c)(4) group claimed that under Willis' leadership, there has been an increase in murders, rapes, and burglaries.
The ad stated that the district attorney is solely focused on her own political ambitions, high-profile prosecutions, and profiting off partisan lawfare, all while putting families in fear and endangering innocent lives. It emphasized the need for a district attorney who would prioritize public safety.
