While gun ownership declines among male Democrats, more Republican women are purchasing firearms, according to a poll.
The percentage of GOP women who own guns has risen by 50%, according to Gallup.
While gun ownership among Democratic-leaning men decreases, a recent Gallup poll shows an increase in Republican women owning guns.
The percentage of Republican women who own guns has risen from 19% to 33% between 2007-2012 and 2019-2024, according to a Gallup survey published on Thursday.
Since 2013-2018, the percentage of Republican women who own guns has increased by 50%.
"The percentage of Democratic men who own guns has decreased by seven points, to 29%, while independent men's ownership has decreased by five points, to 39%. However, Republican men continue to be the most likely gun owners among all subgroups, with a 60% ownership rate."
Despite the national gun ownership rate remaining at approximately 30%, Gallup observed a significant increase in ownership among Republican women, which offsets declines among Democratic and independent men.
"Republican men continue to hold a high level of ownership, while ownership among Democratic and independent women is relatively low."
The study found that gun ownership is more influenced by political beliefs than before, possibly due to the prominence of the gun issue in politics and culture.
Kamala Harris' revelation that she owns a gun has sparked surprise nationwide, but it did not necessarily win over Republican women.
During a "60 Minutes" interview, Harris stated that he has had a Glock for a long time.
In November, female gun owners responded to a statement they deemed as "campaign rhetoric" by Planet Chronicle Digital.
Jane Milhans, a gun instructor, stated that she does not believe that the woman is a gun owner who exercises and advocates for our right to self-defense.
"Amara Barnes, founder of the Women Gun Owners Association of America, stated to Planet Chronicle Digital that she felt nothing when Kamala Harris discussed owning a Glock. She explained that it is evident that Harris's statement was an attempt to appeal to the right and that she is actually anti-gun."
Planet Chronicle Digital's Hannah Ray Lambert contributed to this report.
