Memo: DOJ to probe state and local officials impeding immigration enforcement.
Federal prosecutors nationwide should intensify efforts to prosecute officials who hinder immigration enforcement, according to the Trump DOJ.
According to a memo obtained by Planet Chronicle, the Justice Department is directing federal prosecutors to investigate state or local officials who hinder immigration enforcement under President Trump's new administration.
"The Justice Department must and will work to eliminate these threats, as Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, Trump's former defense attorney, wrote in a memo. It is the responsibility of the Justice Department to uphold the Constitution and execute the policies that the American people elected President Trump to implement. The memo stated that the Justice Department's duty, proudly carried out by each employee, involves enforcing laws passed by Congress and defending the President's actions against legal challenges. The Department's staff must unite in the funded offices to carry out this crucial work."
