On Sunday, two suspicious individuals were encountered by officers stationed at road closures for the Palisades Fire, according to a press statement from the California Highway Patrol.
The individuals were seen entering and exiting the closures with what looked like Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) press passes, which aroused suspicion.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and California Highway Patrol officers confirmed that the press passes were fake, and both individuals carrying the passes were arrested.
A search of their belongings revealed more fraudulent press passes.
Several individuals have been arrested in recent weeks for attempting to enter fire zones through deception.
On Saturday, an Oregon couple was apprehended for pretending to be firefighters and attempting to enter an evacuation zone with a fake firetruck.
A burglary suspect who posed as a firefighter was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department, as previously confirmed by Planet Chronicle Digital.
